SEEING PLACE

The seeing place is a kind of game in public space. The installation, so far presented in the outdoors of Lublin, appeared here as a communicator between individual locations of the city.

Objects resembling large eyeballs with mounted cameras were deployed in areas of the city characterized by high flow of people. By generating short voice messages, they induced passers-by to directly meet the hidden camera inside them. Images recorded in locations of high vitality were then transmitted via the Internet to a central computer in the basement of one of the abandoned buildings in Olejna street. The system of screens installed there displayed a stream of images of faces and gestures, thus populating the abandoned place with tele-presence of residents.
